Events| ORS in Paris... Boucles d'ebenes

I spent the beginning of the month in Paris for the weekend with ORS (rebranded Organic Roots Stimulator), the point of us being there? to represent the company, analyse peoples scalp using the scope, sell products and bring product awareness. Being that it was my first two weeks as part of the company it was a little overwhelming, but I settled right in and completely forgot how tired I was until I crashed in the hotel room every night. The great thing about Paris was eating my guilty pleasure 'grec' sandwich, I am being more healthy as time goes on but those sandwiches are such a guilty pleasure! I can't say that I have ever been in love with Paris, I am not phased by the eiffel tower and find that the roads are just too small amongst other things, but I can't help but feel happy when I get there as most of my family are there and its home to my papa and little sisters, seeing them lifted my spirit and we shared a great weekend. Back to the natural event, being that it was it's first year running, boucles d'ebene had a good turn out, people were enthusiastic about all things natural and I gained information about products such as shea moisture and hairinfinity. It was exhausting translating in french but also great fun, I hope to be at the event again next year....

Hair| wedding hair and smiles

I have had a few busy weekends and was not able to do any posts, the great news is, I have loads of material to post now that everything has settled!
It was one of my childhood friends wedding last Saturday and I had the pleasure of doing her hair, the build up to the wedding was amazing, this is the first time that someone close to me has gotten married so it was very exciting! I had a blast doing her hair and being a part of her day. It's the wedding season so I have a few bookings, I am really enjoying being a part of the day seeing the bride, the prepping, the hair and making her beautiful for her day.... this is definitely the exciting part of the job.

Moving swiftly on, my hair is still doing its  own thing, since shaping my hair and creating a hairstyle with my Afro, I have been loving it! I am very simple with it and kind of let it do its own thing, glycerine is still a staple ingredient in my regime and on the wedding day I decided to opt for doing single medium sized twists and tucking them in. I left it overnight and the results were great! Not too much shrinkage and the style lasted a good two days.

Review| Ghd Air Blowdryer

I have been keeping this hair dryer in my radar for the last few months, I finally gave up last week and purchased it at a cheaper price than the original one, as I felt I was in need of a new blowdryer (I love new hair tools). I already have my wonderful Parlux hairdryer but I wanted a ceramic dryer and after testing this one I decided to purchase it.
With only 2 heat settings the ghd air is surprisingly powerful , I am quite used to my blowdryer getting very hot due to the change in heat settings, but this doesn't happen with this one at all and I feel the settings are perfect for careful styling and also quick drying. The nozzles attach very securely and help guide you to a perfect straight/sleek blow-dry, though I was disappointed that the blowdryer doesn't allow a fit for a fork nozzle (When will this happen?!).
As usual, I made it my business to test this dryer on the range of clients that walk into the salon, I can definitely say that I have tried it on afro relaxed hair, brazilian blowdry, european hair, frizzy hair and big curly hair. There were a range of great results but one thing stood out to me, this tool gets hair dry really fast in comparison to the standard dryers. Another factor; it works great on hair that is medium to thick, not so much on fine hair, I felt it left the hair looking a bit flat and I just expected more for that texture as the main thing is to give the illusion that its thicker.
Overall I love the dryer due to the ionic technology, I felt that it left hair looking smooth and very sleek without too much heat which is always a great thing. The price will set you back £100, which is a negative for me as there are ionic dryers that are a lot cheaper out there, you could argue that GHD's do have a long life expectancy which makes them worth the money though this is totally up to you.
  • PROS; very versatile, sleek finish, easy to use, lovely packaging, ionic technology
  • CONS; expensive, not great on fine hair, a little heavy

Products| L'Oreal Mythic Oil (rich and light)

This Nourishing oil for all hair types is one of the newest products from the L'oreal range and so far I am really excited about the Mythic oil, with ingredients such as avocado and grapeseed oil, you know your hair is going to feel great. I have been testing it out on various clients with different hair types and so far I feel that depending on your hair type, you will need either 1, 2 or 3 pumps on damp or dry hair and continue with your styling, It leaves your hair feeling smooth and lightweight. I find it works really well with weaves, frizzy hair and gives amazing shine (I also really love the smell)
I was introduced to the rich Mythic oil a little later which I feel is great for hair that is unruly, a lot thicker and a little coarse. The rich oil consists of Argan and rice bran oil, I don't believe that you need a lot of this product at all as a little goes a long way. Both products are amazing and a cheaper version of Morrocan oil, which can sometimes be a little greasy if you don't know how to use it. I generally am a big fan of L'oreal products and looking forward to giving reviews on the mythic oil range that we have at the salon.

You can purchase it L'Oreal Mythic Oil from about £12

27........

It seems like just yesterday I was celebrating my 25th birthday, to think it was 2 years ago seems absurd to me! I looked through my blog to see how I have come along and it seemed like another life time ago when I started hairdressing professionally at 22, I think that's when my life officially changed I just didn't realise it then. I wasn't really looking forward to turning 27 but as the day neared I found myself ready to embrace it and thoroughly enjoyed my day, so many great things happened at 26 and I can't wait for what this year has to offer good or bad, life is one lesson after another right?!... Two of my closest  girls and I enjoyed a great evening last night at Burger and lobster filled with laughter and having a good after work catch up, they truly made my day... LOVE THEM! Happy birthday to all those who celebrate their day this month! Kisses x
